Surgical Technologist
Position Overview:
The Surgical Technologist will scrub for multiple surgical specialities/procedures and demonstrate competence while functioning as a core member of the surgical team.
This position can be part-time or full-time employment and will be on-site in the surgery center located in Charlottesville, VA.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Assembles and prepares necessary supplies and equipment according to physicians’ preference cards for scheduled procedures.
- Maintains order and cleanliness of the operating room in accordance with environmental policies and procedures.
- Follows principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating room procedures.
- Adheres to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages while preparing for the procedure.
- Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action accordingly.
- Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability.
- Maintains compliance with all Board approved, facility policies and procedures.
- Maintains familiarity with a variety of surgical instrumentation and equipment along with trouble-shooting skills that are performed in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions for use.
Qualifications:
- Active certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program.
- Active BCLS certification.
- High School graduate or GED certificate recipient.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Atleast two years of surgical technologist experience.
