Understanding Your Estimate

A patient estimate is our best calculation of what you may owe for your procedure based on the insurance information available to us before your surgery. It is provided to help you plan for your healthcare expenses, but it is not a guarantee of your final financial responsibility.

Your estimate is based on factors such as:

  • Your insurance benefits at the time the estimate is prepared.

  • Remaining deductible, copay, and coinsurance information provided by your insurance company.

  • The expected services related to your procedure.

After your procedure, we submit a claim to your insurance company. Your insurance carrier then reviews the claim and determines the final payment according to your plan’s benefits, contracted rates, medical necessity determinations, and claims processing policies.

Because of this, your final patient responsibility may be different from your estimate. If your insurance pays less than anticipated, you may have an additional balance due. If your insurance pays more than anticipated or you have overpaid, any overpayment will be refunded or credited to your account, as applicable.

We encourage patients to contact their insurance company directly with questions about their coverage, deductible, coinsurance, or out-of-pocket costs. Our team is also happy to answer questions about how your estimate was prepared.

Please Note: A patient estimate is provided as a courtesy to help you anticipate your costs. The final amount you owe is determined by your insurance company’s processing of your claim and the terms of your health plan.
