Registered Nurse Pre-Op/PACU

Position Overview:

The Registered Nurse Pre-Op/PACU provides nursing care to the patient in the pre-op and post-op phases. 

This position can be PRN or part-time employment and will be on-site in the surgery center located in Charlottesville, VA.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs assigned pre-operative assessments and ensures all appropriate/required documentation is completed and located in the patient chart prior to day of surgery.
  • Ability to effectively communicate consents for surgery, patient’s rights and responsibilities, and pre-operative/post-operative care instructions.
  • Reviews the patient’s medical record and needs to plan care with other health care team members. 
  • Performs pre-operative patient assessment.
  • Monitors patients post-anesthesia and ensures their safety and comfort.
  • Performs thorough post-operative patient assessment prior to discharge of the patient.
  • Assists with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability. 
  • Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient while maintaining the patient’s privacy and dignity. 
  • Provides continuity of patient care by communicating with other care personnel and documenting records appropriately. 
  • Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician. 
  • Documents patient care records and other forms accurately according to facility policy. 
  • Ensures proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted Standards of Nursing Practice and approved center policies and procedures.
  • Maintains compliance with all Board approved facility policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or GED certificate recipient.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Active BCLS and ACLS certification.
  • Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia.
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two years of work experience in an ambulatory surgery setting or acute hospital providing direct patient care.

Operating Room Registered Nurse

Position Overview:

The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides nursing care to the patient during the intraoperative phase, performs nursing activities in the operating room where the circulating nurse is the patient’s advocate, and answers patient needs by assisting the physician and person responsible for anesthesia care. 

This position can be PRN or part-time employment and will be on-site in the surgery center located in Charlottesville, VA.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and directs patient care in the operating room. 
  • Organizes nursing activities efficiently, and effectively delegating activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff members. 
  • Assists with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability. 
  • Addresses patient needs during admission to the operating room with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient setting. 
  • Identifies the patient and correct surgical intervention according to Facility policy and communicates with all surgical team members.
  • Reviews the patient’s medical record and needs to plan care with other health care team members. 
  • Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient while maintaining the patient’s privacy and dignity. 
  • Explains intraoperative phase routine procedures and care to the patient. 
  • Performs the circulating nurse’s functions adhering to approved operating room procedures for the scheduled procedure. 
  • Prepares operating room according to the procedure to be performed and patient needs. 
  • Anticipates needs of the surgical team and assists anesthesia staff by supporting the patient during administration of anesthesia. 
  • Provides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting records appropriately. 
  • Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician. 
  • Documents patient care records and other forms accurately according to facility policy 
  • Ensures proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted Standards of Nursing Practice and approved center policies and procedures.
  • Maintains compliance with all Board approved facility policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or GED certificate recipient.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Active BCLS and ACLS certification.
  • Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia.

Surgical Technologist

Position Overview:

The Surgical Technologist will scrub for multiple surgical specialities/procedures and demonstrate competence while functioning as a core member of the surgical team.

This position can be part-time or full-time employment and will be on-site in the surgery center located in Charlottesville, VA.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assembles and prepares necessary supplies and equipment according to physicians’ preference cards for scheduled procedures.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of the operating room in accordance with environmental policies and procedures.
  • Follows principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating room procedures.
  • Adheres to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages while preparing for the procedure.
  • Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action accordingly.
  • Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability.
  • Maintains compliance with all Board approved, facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintains familiarity with a variety of surgical instrumentation and equipment along with trouble-shooting skills that are performed in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions for use.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program.
  • Active BCLS certification.
  • High School graduate or GED certificate recipient.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program.
  • Atleast two years of surgical technologist experience.
